WTF

This drag show-turned-police chase must be seen to be believed

A drag queen, six criminals on the run, and two police officers walk into a bar. That’s not the set-up to a joke, but a real series of events that took place last Friday in Chicago — and it was all caught on video.

The chaos went down at The Annoyance Theatre & Bar during a drag show, where drag queen Derry Queen was about to take the stage for a rousing performance of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” — while dressed as a devil, of course.

On her Instagram story, Derry walked through the sequence of events: she hit play on her music, walked to the front of the room, hit a pose, and saw two police officers barge into the bar.

“I turn around and I see cops running like this, going, ‘Freeze! Freeze! Freeze!’” she said. “I’m like, ‘What the hell?’”

Later, Derry learned that while she was hitting play, a group of six robbers (some wearing ski masks) had entered the bar and gone to the back to hide, fresh off of robbing the store next door. When the police rushed through with guns drawn, Derry and the bar staff took charge to usher everyone out onto the street until they knew what was going on.

“I need you to picture me dressed as the devil while all this is happening, with ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’ playing in the background,” Derry emphasized. “God gives his toughest journeys to his c*ntiest…”

That moment was captured by security cameras, then set to ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’ for your viewing pleasure.

Thankfully, no one was harmed (the robbers were unarmed), and Derry watched as some of them were arrested, including who she called “the icon of the group.”

“She has her hands behind her back and she’s gonna walk to the cop car, and she looks around, and — I don’t know if anybody heard it — but she said, ‘I’m so sorry, guys. I’m so sorry for interrupting the show,’” Derry recalled. “Just like, ‘Foiled again! Sorry for interrupting, guys. By the way, you look great!’”

The video quickly went viral, gagging every corner of the gay internet.

Derry’s full storytime is still available in her Instagram highlights. To wrap things up, she pondered on the moral of the story.

“What have we learned?” she asked. “We learned that life is crazy, babe. You never know when you’re gonna be in the middle of an active crime scene.”
