We love a late-in-life coming out story, however improbable! Last week, White Lotus star and “bend and snap” icon Jennifer Coolidge made news by (seemingly, jokingly) proclaiming herself as a lesbian on TikTok. But there’s more to the story…
Last week, sapphic TikToker Tess (@emotionalleabian) randomly ran into Coolidge at an outdoor cafe and did what any self-respecting lesbian would do at such a moment: shot her goddamn shot!

“I’m a lesbian,” Tess tells Coolidge, to which Coolidge responds, “I am too!” Tess asks if they should kiss, and it…almost happens. But not quite.
Obviously, commenters lost their entire minds.
“You saw your opportunity and you took it the whole lesbian community applauds you,” someone wrote. Exactly: when an icon gives you an in, you gotta take it.
“SHE THOUGHT ABOUT IT” another commenter excitedly typed.
“63 and she’s never been married… why are we assuming she’s joking,” another commenter pointed out. And listen, they’re not wrong to be asking those questions…
Basically, we’re pretty sure Coolidge was indeed joking about being a lesbian. But it’s not unheard for people to jokingly come out before coming out for real, so yes all things are possible in this worst of all possible worlds. We will be staying tuned and seated for any further developments…
