At Monday’s Met Gala, celebrities gathered to show off designer outfits and mingle in a night of upscale elegance. Omar Apollo, meanwhile, took the evening to once again sow the (literal?) seeds of gay chaos. For anyone wondering who Apollo would get pregnant, your time has come.
The 2024 Met Gala was the rising star’s first, and he made his debut in excellent company. He joined the event alongside fellow Loewe-wearing stars Josh O’Connor, Mike Faist, Dan Levy, Ayo Edebiri, Ambika Mod, Luca Guadagnino, Alison Oliver, and Jamie Dornan.
Later in their hotel, the group participated in a mostly wholesome pass-the-phone challenge for Loewe’s official TikTok channel. Mostly, until the phone found its way into Apollo’s hands.

As the group complemented each other, there was a hint of gay foreshadowing. “I’m passing the phone to a beautiful man who loves to eat churros,” Dornan said before passing the phone to O’Connor. If you’re lost on the churros reference, you’ve clearly missed the sexual tension in Guadagnino’s new film Challengers.
“I’m passing the phone to someone who has a really cool look tonight,” Oliver said before handing the phone off to Apollo.
“I’m passing the phone to someone I would have a baby with if I wasn’t a ffff….” Apollo says before the clip cuts off. We may never know who was going to pass the phone to, so we can keep dreaming it was us.
Oliver was not kidding about Apollo’s outfit. The theme for this year’s gala was “Garden of Time” and Loewe designer Jonathan Anderson dressed Apollo in a black suit with metal tubes and flowers along the lapel.
“Jonathan has incorporated floral elements in some of his previous collections, so we came back to the Loewe team to see how they could weave it into this look,” Apollo told Vogue.
But as for the inspiration behind the look, Apollo provided a very characteristic answer. “I honestly didn’t have any references,” he said, “just vibes.”
