JK Rowling tried to clap back at Pedro Pascal, but there’s one big problem

Last week, Pedro Pascal once again gave a masterclass in trans allyship. After infamous TERF JK Rowling posted a picture celebrating the UK Supreme Court’s latest transphobic ruling, Pascal commented on a post about the much-maligned author: “Awful disgusting SH*T is exactly right,” he wrote. “Heinous LOSER behavior.” That was just a few days before he rocked a “Protect The Dolls” shirt to the UK premiere of Thunderbolts, once again making his love for trans folks clear for all to see.

Rowling, naturally, tried to clap back at Pascal on social media, but her rebuttal missed the mark for one big reason. When one of Rowling’s fans — because yes, she somehow still has some of those — pointed out that both Pascal and Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan had recently called out her transphobic views, Rowling replied, “I can’t be bothered to Google. Who are they?”

Sick burn, diva — except, if you’re going to come for Pedro Pascal, his level of fame and relevance shouldn’t be your target. He’s one of the biggest actors working in Hollywood today, from starring roles in the Marvel and Star Wars universes, to critical acclaim for his performances in The Last of Us and Gladiator II. Even before the heights of his current A-list status, Pascal was a breakout star in massive series like Game of Thrones and Narcos.

Sure, there are probably people out there who don’t know Pascal — but those people likely don’t spend every waking moment ranting on social media like Rowling. A quick look at her page proves she’s extremely active online (maybe to a concerning degree), making her claim to ignorance about Pascal fall flat on its face.

But being clever on the internet has never been Rowling’s strong suit. Maybe if she actually did take the time to look into Pascal and Coughlan’s views, she could learn a thing or two about why her TERF rhetoric is so harmful.
