B&B

Is there a Britney Spears and Beyoncé collaboration underway?

Britney Spears, the pop princess, and Beyoncé aka Queen Bey (and the mayor) both started their careers around the same time in the late ‘90s. Since then, these two music titans have dominated the charts with bop after bop. And while they have that one Pepsi commercial where they’re gladiators (along with fellow gladiator P!nk and Roman ruler Enrique Iglesias), Britney and Beyoncé have never collaborated on a song together.

With these two sharing similar producers, songwriters, and stages, we’ve never seen a B&B duet, let alone a feature from either of these ladies. But is that about to change?

Well, the music gods are conspiring, as Britney has already made a request to remix one of Beyoncé’s hits and she’s asked for Jay-Z’s assistance. In a now deleted post on Instagram, Britney proposed a remix of Bey’s country hit “Daddy Lessons” from her magnum opus Lemonade

“So many people have done remixes to my songs without my knowledge…so I guess it’s safe to say I will be redoing this song eventually!!!” Britney wrote in the post’s caption. “Just need to meet Jay-Z and add a rap to it…what’s up???”

We need that question answered, Britney. The track has already received a remix by The Chicks, and the country trio and Beyoncé performed the updated version of “Daddy Lessons” at the 50th annual Country Music Association Awards. However, a Britney version would take on a whole new meaning.

Both of these entertainers have been in the news due to their fathers’ misgivings. Beyoncé and the rest of Destiny’s Child were managed by Bey’s father, Mathew Knowles, and they famously left his management in the early 2010s. The Knowles patriarch’s name entered the tabloids again when it was revealed that he cheated on his former wife, and Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, which led to their divorce.

While Britney’s father, James P. Spears, notoriously placed his daughter under a conservatorship that kept the “Oops…I Did it Again” singer and her father in the tabloids. Britney was released from the conservatorship in 2021.

So, if Britney wants to take on this famous Virgo’s groove (with the support of a fellow Sagittarius rapper), and if Beyoncé approves, then we’d finally have the duet of pop dreams. It’s not that Bey doesn’t want to work with Britney, especially when it was announced in January that there were plans for the two to appear in one of Beyoncé’s music videos. While that fell through, a “Daddy Lessons” remix could be just what fans need.
