Troye Sivan’s ‘My My My!’ Video Serves Lights, Moves, & Boys

· Updated on May 28, 2018

Troye Sivan has claimed his place as the queer golden boy of the music industry. Following his 2015 debut album, Blue Neighbourhood, he’s been hard at work on his upcoming sophomore album, releasing from Capitol Records this spring. He was also hand-picked by designer Pierpaolo Piccioli to be the face of the Valentino Spring 2018 menswear campaign.

Giving us a little treat to hold us over until the release of his new album, he dropped the video for “My My My!” The first single from the new album is a sexy and upbeat pop track that gives us those 18-year-old in a dance club vibes.

The video complements that musical aesthetic. Offering a seizure trigger warning at the beginning of the video, it features Sivan dancing in a dark warehouse, under flashing lights. He gives every bit of ‘90s R realness with a flowy black shirt as he struts around the industrial space. The video transitions from black and white to find Sivan lurking in a shadowy hallway with a group of shirtless boys, rounding off the club goer theme with a backroom motif.

The video presents Sivan in a more mature light as an artist. Maintaining his pop child status, he embodies a spirit last seen in the likes of George Michael. It’s fitting, given the track’s life-affirming, dance-invoking mood.

“‘My My My!’ is a song of liberation, freedom, and love,” Sivan said of the track. “Throw all inhibition to the wind, be present in your body, love wholeheartedly, move the way you’ve always wanted to, and dance the way you feel – hopefully even to this song!”
