Nancy Mace drops charges against trans advocate who “accosted” her with a handshake

Around the time of the U.S. v. Skrmetti hearing in 2024, Nancy Mace was left in critical condition from a handshake, or so she’d like everyone to believe.

According to Mace, this is what happened: on December 10th, she was approached by a foster care advocate and trans rights activist named James McIntyre. McIntyre proceeded to firmly shake Mace’s hand while telling her, “trans youth are also foster youth, and they need your support.” Sometime after that, James was arrested after Nancy Mace claimed he injured her… by shaking her hand. This is the same woman who, a couple of months ago, threatened to beat up Jasmine Crockett in the parking lot.

Even though many eyewitnesses say nothing more than a firm handshake passed between McIntyre and Mace, and even though Nancy Mace doesn’t have the bone density of a f***ing bird, she still charged McIntyre with misdemeanor assault.

There was no evidence that she was as injured as she claimed, and she refused medical attention during the incident. However, that didn’t stop her from playing up her injury over the next few days by wearing an arm sling. Her Transphobia aside, this is a classic infuriating move out of the white woman playbook;.

For months we heard no updates on the case, but as of Tuesday, April 1st (not a joke), the D.C. Attorney’s office filed a motion to dismiss the case, dropping all charges.

“I am pleased but not surprised that these baseless charges have been dropped. This experience has been traumatic, but the outpouring of support from my community, colleagues, and friends has meant everything,” McIntyre said in a statement.

McIntyre further added that “by falsely accusing me of a violent crime and having me jailed, Congresswoman Mace demonstrated her desire to criminalize anyone who advocates for the needs of our trans youth. Her actions are fundamentally connected to the broader effort by the Trump administration to criminalize protected speech and create an environment of fear among advocates. We will never stop working to protect vulnerable young people, no matter who is in power.”

Mace, however, still insists she was injured.

“I was injured, intentionally, and I am still in pain,” she told Charleston NBC affiliate WCBD through a spokesperson.

It is not yet confirmed whether Nancy Mace would like to speak to the manager at this time, but we will keep you posted on any further developments.
