Chappell Roan and RuPaul’s Drag Race are a match made in heaven. She’s a campy lesbian pop star who performs in drag, platforms local drag artists with gigs at her tour dates, and is the literal drag daughter of Sasha Colby. It was only a matter of time until Roan would appear as a guest judge on the Drag Race panel, and in the upcoming All Stars season, it’s becoming a reality.
A new trailer for All Stars 10 revealed that Roan would be a guest judge, showing her meeting the queens in the werkroom and greeting RuPaul on the mainstage. That means fans got a glimpse at her look for the panel, and in true Chappell fashion, it’s sparking plenty of conversation on social media.
For her runway look, Roan delivered an ode to Judy The Inflatable Friend — aka, the prototypical sex doll. That includes shiny fake skin, yellow plastic hair, and a pair of inflatable legs she gleefully lifted above the judges’ table.

The look caused quite a stir, sparking discourse around the idea of paying homage to a sex doll. It’s a symbol of straight men’s objectification of women, and in the wrong hands, Roan’s look could be misogynistic — but it’s not in the wrong hands. It’s in Roan’s.
Let’s think through this for a moment: Would Chappell Roan, an outspoken lesbian with songs like “Femininomenon” and “Red Wine Supernova,” ever intentionally degrade women? Or, would she satirize and poke fun at objectification with a camp, high-fashion take that reclaims a misogynistic symbol? The second one sounds a whole lot more likely to us, and the internet agrees.
“There’s no way yall actually view this as ‘a disservice to feminism’ or whatever,” reads one viral post. “She’s clearly mocking the existence of sex dolls, but you ppl enjoy doubting women’s intelligence.”
