Spotify Wrapped is upon us, and the internet isn’t happy

It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for: after weeks of anticipation, Spotify’s fan favorite year-end event, Spotify Wrapped, is available to users.

Wrapped is always an event, with folks flooding social media with their top tracks, artists, and genres — but this year looks a little different, and Spotify users aren’t happy. This year’s in-app summary of users’ listening habits omitted fan favorite features from previous years, including top genres and personality profiles. After so much anticipation, Spotify users can’t help but feel a little let down.

This year’s Wrapped had some new features instead, including walking users through their 2024 Music Evolution, assigning them eras along the way. As always, some felt targeted at queer folks: if you got Pink Pilates Princess, consider yourself clocked.

And of course, stan culture was alive and well, with users showing off their devotion to everyone from Ariana Grande’s grandmother to Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka.

Even celebrities got in on the action, with Charli xcx sharing her top artists and songs. (Her own song “Guess” made the podium at Number 3.)

Chappell Roan also revealed her Wrapped results on Instagram, sharing that her top artists were Ariana Grande, Charli xcx, Heart, Justice, and Kacey Musgraves. Talk about taste.

Spotify Wrapped may not have been to everyone’s liking this year, but it’s still got the whole internet talking. Leave it to Wrapped to deliver the good, the bad, and the very, very gay.
