Gay travel and MAGA influencer Garrett Bruno has been found dead at 33. Bruno was awaiting trial on bail for charges of second degree murder when his body was discovered.
On March 4, Bruno was found dead at his parents’ home in Mount Dora, Florida, as reported by The Daily Mail. Medical examiners told the outlet that the investigation into the cause of death is still ongoing.
Six months earlier in October, Bruno allegedly perpetrated a car accident that killed 83-year-old grandmother Esther Abouab when he ran a red light in West Hollywood. Investigators said that Bruno was speeding in a 25mph zone with his Ford Explorer when he T-boned Abouab’s vehicle, killing her and seriously injuring her husband Joe. A toxicology report found Ketamine and GHB in his system.

Bruno was released from the hospital days after the crash. Later that same month, he suffered a scooter accident that left him in a coma. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for his arrest in November, whereupon the officers who raided his $1.1 million West Hollywood bungalow discovered that he’d been hospitalized.
In late December, Bruno emerged from his coma and was promptly transferred to an LA jail cell. He was charged with second degree murder for Abouab’s killing.
Following his arraignment in January, Bruno was released on bail to await trial. He subsequently moved home with his parents in Florida, where he lived until the time of his death.
Bruno ran the Instagram account Garrett Travels which had amassed 61,000 followers mostly on travel and shirtless photos. In the week before the crash, the influencer had revealed his support of then-candidate Donald Trump in a pinned highlight labeled “Politics.” Before then, he’d signalled his right wing views by railing against COVID closures.
Friends of Bruno told The Daily Mail the influencer had been considering running as a Florida Congressman before the crash. He’d also claimed to already have the backing of MAGA billionaires Keith Rabois and Jacob Helberg.
