Love Wins

Meryl Streep and Martin Short might be dating and the gays are losing it

In this cold, loveless world, we do everything we can to believe in love. We honor the ships that keep us going, day in and day out, and whether they happen to be cartoons, fictional characters, or just a collection of random famous people, they make us feel just that much more optimistic about the chances of love in an apocalyptic, post-Reesa Teesa climate.

So imagine the magnitude of everyone’s gay joy upon learning that stage and screen icons—and EGOT hopefuls—Martin Short and Meryl Streep might be dating.

In some recent pap snaps, Streep and Short look absolutely jazzed to be in each others’ no doubt hilarious company. If these Page Six shots of the two icons enjoying a night on the town didn’t have you scream-singing “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” your heart is well and truly dead.

Now how did this happen? How did we not know both of these absolute legends are single? And more importantly—were these the two “friends” Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift were kiki-ing about at the Golden Globes? Lip readers of TikTok, assemble!

For some reason, thinking about two millenials gossiping about a couple of single baddies in their 70s is just so perfect.

Nancy Meyers, the muse is upon us!

You’re never too old—or too young—to be an It Couple.

The fact that Martin Short—whose Only Murders in the Building character is 1000% gay and I don’t care what anyone says, he wears a scarf—is a straight gay icon makes matters even cuter.

But this commenter absolutely put it best, 10/10 no notes:

It’s a great day to believe in love.
