After one intrepid Michaels explorer noticed an entire section of the store decked out in what can only be described as lesbian flag chic, things got very, very gay in the comments.

“Why is it lesbian Halloween at Michaels?” The original poster, user @gameykatie, asked. And honestly, that is the best and only way to describe this aesthetic. “They have gay Phoebe Bridgers ghosts that are gay,” she noted.

They certainly do, and it’s no accident. Apparently the combination of the lesbian flag colors (pink, orange, light pink, white, magenta) along with a witchy aesthetic is a distinct Michaels feature called “Hippie Hallow,” it’s also canonically and unequivocally gay rights. It simply is.
The brand even commented on the video, stating: “we love your take on hippie hallow🧡🩷”
You call it Hippie Hallow, we call it femme flagging. We call it Shakira’s album art. We call it for the girls only.

I mean sure, technically a straight person could find themselves in the market for light pink, coffin-shaped shelving. But let’s be real. This is pure sapphic bait! And as marketing tactics go, it’s pretty brilliant.
