That Dua Lipa x Elton John Collab is Finally Happening.

Dua Lipa and Sir Elton John might just have you looking forward to a frozen heart this summer. The two have announced a surprise collaboration, “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)”, which is set to debut tomorrow. Lipa shared the news on Twitter, along with a teaser snippet.

It is a mashup of two acclaimed singers and two of John’s songs (“Sacrifice” and “Rocket Man”), all mixed into a thumping dance beat by Australian trio Pnau. John previously mentored the members of Pnau (Nick Littlemore, Sam Littlemore, and Peter Mayes), and the trio also worked with him on 2012’s Good Morning to the Night, which remixes a number of his classic hits.

On an Instagram story, Lipa declared, “I’m fizzing with excitment!!!! @eltonjohn i love you and i’m so happy this is finally coming out into the world.” I’m fizzing along with her, though I’m not sure exactly what that means.

Sir Elton John responded on an Instagram post, saying “Dua, I adore you, and it has been an incredible experience making this together. I can’t wait for you all to hear it!”

Lipa and John have performed together at a few different live events in the past. Last November, John was a VIP guest star on Lipa’s ‘Studio 2054’ livestream concert. During John’s Oscar viewing party in March, the pair performed duets of each other’s songs. Now the duo are solidifying their partnership with an actual studio track—maybe an indication of more studio work to come? We can but dream.

Coming so soon after Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s announcement of a new joint album, it’s looking to be the summer of iconic, cross-generational collaborations. Previously, Dua Lipa  worked with DaBaby on a remix of her song “Levitating.” After the rapper’s now notorious homophobic rant, Lipa responded, “I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments. I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with. I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I 100% stand with the LGTBQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”

Collaborating with a legendary queer icon like Sir Elton John is—to say the least—a glow-up, and we’re here for it.
