When it comes to the bedroom, plenty of sapphic folks enjoy using a toy or two with their partners. But are all … ahem, accessories appropriate for anybody to use? After a few bizarre hookups, TikTok user Ty Ty Hustisya (@tyty.hustisya) had to turn to the sapphic internet for advice.
“I got a question for the lesbos,” began their video. “I need you to tell me if this is a common experience or not.”
“I was seeing someone. They were from out of town,” Hustisya continued. “They mentioned they like strap. I am not a fan of strap. It’s not my favorite thing. But I do have one for, like, when I’m doing a raunchy drag act, and I brought it and they used it, but they said that it’s weird to have flesh-toned strap.” For context, Hustisya added in their captions, both they and their partner are white.
“I was like, ‘What color do you prefer?’ And they were like, ‘Black,’” they went on. “And I was like, ‘Oh yeah. I get that. Like, I don’t like a realistic strap, you know? I want it to not look like a ween.’”

“But then I visited them. It was just all strap the whole time, which was a total bummer for me,” Hustisya explained. “But the thing is, they had two choices of strap, and both of them… They weren’t black, like nail polish black. They were Black, like the skin tone, the flesh color, of some of my friends. Is that normal, or is that weird?”

Hustisya’s comments section was in resounding agreement: their partner was a weirdo for using a strap with a skin tone different than their own.
“That is weird LMFAO,” reads one comment. “Your own skin tone or a non-realistic/rainbow color. no in between.”
“This feels ray-cis-t in a way I can’t articulate fully,” commented another user.
“If you want skin tone it better be YOUR skin tone lmfao that person is a WEIRDO!!!!!!” wrote a third.
Others pointed out that Hustisya’s partner had problems even beyond their questionable taste in straps. “Double red flag,” one commenter wrote. “Only wanting to do what pleases them and that… odd preference…”
Long story short, when it comes to selecting a strap, it’s best to stick to your own skin tone or throw realism out the window. “That’s still flesh tone!” another commenter observed. “I prefer 100% non representational: colors that don’t appear in humans and no realistic details. mine is clear with pink hearts in it 💖”
