Nope

JK Rowling tried to come for Munroe Bergdorf, and now the famous TERF is being ripped to shreds

If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a million times, but the maxim always rings true: if you come at the Queen, you’d best not miss. It was true in the Elizabethan era, and it was true in Game of Thrones, and it’s absolutely true in House of Dragons.

It’s also true of Munroe Bergdorf, the iconic, insanely accomplished Black trans activist and model who served as the first trans model to head up a L’Oreal campaign and has served as an LGBTQ+ advisor to the Labor Party in Britain, as well as being tapped as the UN Women’s UK champion this year.

Basically, she’s an icon; a hardworking, outspoken trans trailblazer who has never been afraid to speak the truth about the racism, transmisogyny, and general bigotry she faces as a public figure working to give voice to folks who are still consistently silenced and ignored by the mainstream. Bergdorf’s dedication to fighting anti-racism and advocating for trans rights is something we’re deeply grateful for, and we’ll never miss a chance to give this incredible woman her flowers.

But guess who has a bone to pick with Bergdorf simply for being Black, trans, and excellent? That’s right: famed TERF with time on her hands JK “arrest me why don’t you” Rowling, who has decided to bark up the wrong tree once again by attacking on the trans community’s most beloved activists.

In a recent tweet, Rowling tried to imply that Bergdorf—who has fostered relationships with Mermaids, the UK’s oldest trans-affirming charity, as well as the children’s charity NSPCC—raised “safety concerns” through her work with NSPCC in 2019, when the charity unceremoniously dropped Bergdorf after facing immense transphobic pressure from outside TERFS forces.

Now we all know that Miss Rowling isn’t the brightest crayon in the box at times, but to state that Bergdorf was dropped for “safety concerns” is violence, plain and simple. To make the claim that a Black trans woman’s mere presence serving on a charity board constitutes violence is white supremacy, plain and simple. But what do we expect, honestly, from the creator of a character named Kingsley Shacklebolt?

JK Rowling is constantly saying stupid crap that’s clearly designed to piss trans people off. But this is a bridge too far even for the Queen TERF herself. The queer community responded in full force, and now Rowling is once again being dragged across the Internet like Hector’s Trojan a** got dragged by Achilles.

As usual, JK Rowling has decided to attack a trans woman rather than use her infinite time and resources to create any kind of positive change. Basically the polar opposite of Munroe Bergdorf, who has consistently remained honest and outspoken about the many ways our society needs to change in regards to honoring and protecting Black trans life.

Literally imagine using your time to do this and only this!

The people are BEGGING you to log off, Joanne.

Leave Munroe alone, and while you’re at it leave the rest of the world alone, too.

Rowling’s statements aren’t just disgusting, they’re pure violence. They contribute to the real world harm Black trans women already have to face daily.

As satisfying as it is to see the queer community ripping Rowling to shreds over this, it doesn’t change the fact that she’s hell-bent on continuing her reign of transmisogynistic terror for the foreseeable future. It would be wonderful if some queer person, somewhere, could manage to make Rowling come to grips with reality. Then again, what queer person wants to be in that position? It would involve having a conversation with JK Rowling.
