too good to eat

The gay, pasta maker’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ ravioli needs to be seen to be believed

Danny Freeman, a well-known lover and maker of pasta, has gone viral again with his latest creation.

Freeman is a lawyer-turned-chef based in Beacon, New York. He built himself a huge TikTok and Instagram following after he started posting videos of himself making pasta dishes. This led to him publishing his first ‘Danny Loves Pasta’ book last June.

Freeman posts to Instagram and TikTok as @dannylovespasta. Besides sharing straightforward recipes for fresh pasta, Danny also sometimes makes celebrity-inspired pasta dishes. His latest creation celebrated the latest album release from Beyoncé: Cowboy Carter.

Watch it below. It ends with him serving the giant ravioli parcel, decorated to look like the album cover, to one of his two children. The three-year-old is delighted and exclaims “Beyoncé!” when presented with her lunch. It’s adorable.

Danny reveals he achieved the different colors using all-natural ingredients such as cocoa powder, beets, squid ink, and blue spirulina. The filling was sweet potato and ricotta.

In a second post, he said, “I’m looking forward to the day when my favorite artists start making simple album covers 😭 This one took a lot of effort but Beyoncé is worth it! It was an honor to recreate Cowboy Carter in pasta, and my daughter was very excited to eat it!

“For those wondering about the process, I used a 3d printer to create cookie cutters for each shape on the album cover.”

Good job, dad!

Online, he received plenty of praise. “That’s not ravioli. That is ART”, was one well-liked comment on TikTok.

Taylor Swift

Danny has made headlines with previous creations. Last December, he recreated Taylor Swift’s album covers on ravioli. The videos went viral and a news story ran on a local news station. However, the hosts seemed more bemused than admiring, with one shadily suggesting Freeman probably doesn’t “have a girlfriend.”

They were correct (Danny is married to another man), but still, the comment came across as homophobic to many viewers.

Beyoncé released Cowboy Carter March 29. It’s expected to top the Billboard album chart when its announced next week.
